Human Rights in Indian Occupied Kashmir



16 November 2019: KARACHI - British political leaders and human rights activists on Saturday condemned the Indian tyranny in occupied Kashmir and expressed their strong support to the Kashmir freedom struggle.

Speaking at a seminar titled “Human Rights in Indian Occupied Kashmir”, British politicians, human rights activists, international law experts and scholars expressed concern at the deteriorating human rights situation in Indian occupied Kashmir.

02 September 2019: Centre for Peace, Security and Developmental Studies (CPSD), organized a National Conference on “Kashmir Crisis: Emerging Scenarios” in Islamabad. President Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) Sardar Masood Khan and State Minister for States and Frontier Regions Mr. Shehryar Khan Afridi graced the inaugural and closing sessions as the Chief Guests respectively. While Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Mr Syed Fakhar Imam was the Guest of Honor for the event. Speakers from government, diplomatic corps, military, academia, and media deliberated on various dimensions of the subject.

18 July 2019: The Centre for Peace, Security and Developmental Studies (CPSD) organized an International Seminar on “Changing Regional Dynamics in the Wake of US sanctions: Opportunity of cooperation between Pakistan, Iran and Turkey” on 18 July 2019 in Karachi. Pakistani and foreign speakers deliberated on the different dimensions of the subject During the seminar, Secretary General Foreign Relations Section of CPSD, Mr. Ahsan Mukhtar Zubairi welcomed the participants and presented the historical context of relations among Pakistan, Iran, and Tukey. Mr. Zubairi maintained that the three countries are tied together through historical, cultural, and religious bonds.

The Center for Peace Security and Developmental Studies (CPSD) organized a one day International Seminar on Strategic Coercion: Global Dynamics and South Asia on 12th March 2019 in Karachi. This seminar was organized with the aim to foster understanding on Strategic Coercion and its relevance to the evolving global geo-political, geo-economic, and security dynamics and their implications on states’ developments in South Asia. Furthermore, the seminar also aimed at comprehending the policy perspective and recommendations for Pakistan to deal with strategic coercion in the transiting regional and global order.

Former Governor State Bank and Federal Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Zubair Mahmood Hayat NI(M) graced the inaugural and closing sessions respectively as the Chief Guests. National Seminar - "Silver Lining - Beyond Prevalent Perceptions"


The Centre for Peace, Security and Developmental Studies (CPSD) reached the final conclusion of its Silver Lining series by conducting a national level seminar on 30th March 2018 at the Movenpick Hotel in Karachi. The seminar explored evolving opportunities in various domains such as the economy, environment, culture, diplomacy, and others in order to identify space for development and progress.

The main goal was to project positivity beyond prevalent perceptions dominating the mainstream narrative about Pakistan.

The Centre for Peace, Security and Developmental Studies (CPSD) conceived an idea to highlight the Kashmir cause by analyzing the socio-economic potential and emerging opportunities in the valley. The main aim was to shift the focus from Kashmir as purely a conflict-ridden zone towards highlighting the cultural and socio-economic prospects of the state.

The seminar took place on the 27th of February, 2018 at Movenpick Hotel, Karachi.
